The MiCAR transitional period ended on 1 July 2026. Serving EU clients now requires authorisation.

Authorisation in one member state lets you passport your services across the Union. The work is in getting the first one right, and in building an operation that stands up once you are supervised.

02 / Regulatory Hospitality

Everything a regulator expects, arranged around you.

Think of it as a concierge for regulation. You arrive with a business model. We provide the people, the premises, the paperwork and the introductions, through our expert team and our best local partners.

Jurisdiction strategy

We compare member states on regulatory approach, timelines, cost and substance, and recommend where to apply.

Entity, office and substance

An EU company with its registered office and place of effective management in the Union, a physical office and the local presence supervisors look for.

Local directorship

Experienced, fit-and-proper directors, including the EU-resident director MiCAR requires.

MLRO and compliance officer

Qualified key function holders, ready to run your AML/CFT framework from day one.

Risk and compliance operations

KYC, KYB, transaction monitoring and blockchain analytics, staffed and working before you go live.

Accounting, audit and reporting

Bookkeeping, statutory audit and own-funds reporting, delivered by local professionals.

Application dossier

Programme of operations, governance, AML/CFT, ICT and DORA, safeguarding, complaints and wind-down policies, written to the regulator’s standard.

Regulator liaison

We manage communication with the national competent authority, from pre-application meetings to every round of questions.

Banking and partner introductions

Introductions to banking, custody and analytics partners that work with authorised CASPs.

03 / The journey

Five stages. One point of contact.

  1. Assess

Readiness review, scope of services and choice of jurisdiction.

  2. Establish

Entity, office, directors and key function holders in place.

  3. Prepare

Application dossier, policies and operating model built to standard.

  4. Engage

Submission and every round of regulator questions, managed.

  5. Operate

Authorised, passported and supported by our AML Operations team.

04 / Why Regulatory Hospitality

A licence is an operating model, not a form.

Regulators authorise people and processes, not documents. That is why we do not stop at the application. The directors, MLRO and operations team we arrange are the people who will run your controls after approval, supported by the same AskRegulations specialists who work alerts for regulated firms every day.

A complete application, sooner

Gaps are closed before submission, not discovered in the regulator’s questions.

Substance that stands up

Real people, real premises and real processes in the jurisdiction.

Continuity after approval

The team that built your framework can help you run it.

What is MiCAR authorisation for a CASP?

MiCAR, the EU Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2023/1114), requires crypto-asset service providers (CASPs) to be authorised by a national competent authority before serving clients in the EU. Once authorised in one member state, a CASP can provide its services across the EU through passporting.

Has the MiCAR transitional period ended?

Yes. The transitional period ended on 1 July 2026 across the EU. Since then, providing crypto-asset services to EU clients requires a MiCAR authorisation; earlier national registrations are no longer enough.

Can a non-EU company obtain a MiCAR licence?

Yes, through an EU entity. MiCAR requires a registered office in a member state, a place of effective management in the EU and at least one director resident in the EU. Regulatory Hospitality arranges each of these.

Do you provide local directors and an MLRO?

Yes. Through our team and vetted local partners we arrange fit-and-proper directors, including an EU-resident director, an MLRO and compliance officer, and the risk and compliance operations team your application needs.

Which member state should we apply in?

It depends on your services, target markets, timeline and budget. Regulators differ in approach, capacity and expectations of local substance. We compare the options and recommend a jurisdiction before you commit.

What happens after authorisation?

We help you notify your regulator of the member states you intend to serve, then support day-to-day compliance through our AML Operations team: KYC and KYB, transaction monitoring, screening and MLRO support.
